Maya can have dairy! I thought I would 'unhijack' Maria's thread and start my own, coz we are so excited in my house atm!
She had her dairy challenge yesterday and had no reaction, so we are now allowed to start slowly introducing dairy to her diet. We started this morning with some low lactose milk which is easier on her tummy than straight milk as she has never had lactose before. It's such a bizarre feeling. For the past 2 years I have read the labels on everything, and she has lived on rice crackers and gingernuts. Now she can eat anything she likes (except peanuts!). Her specialist told us they hoped she would grow out of it by age 2 and when she hadn't I really thought we were stuck with this forever. But a few months later and she is over it! Would make your life sooooo much easier! Hope she doesn't react, however if she does then at least she will grow up knowing and not knowing what she's allowed. Not really. It was ok at the hospital coz they mixed the milk powder with her rice milk so it just tasted like rice milk, but she didn't drink much of the low lactose milk this morning. Hopefully she will get used to it (coz rice milk is soooo expensive!). We've explained whats happening to her, and she seems to understand, she said to her little friend today "I can have cows milk. It not make me sickie now".
And she did enjoy having a bite of her friends icecream at McDonalds today! ------------- Maya Grace (28/02/03)
