omg I cant bloody believe it!
So I felt a little bit uncomfortable around the wound area today while I was out today - it's 12 weeks on, everything has healed up properly etc. I got home, lifted up the apron (lol) and i've got thrush around it AGAIN!
Anyone else had problems this far on? I'm gonna have to get the canasten cream out again and hopefully it wont travel anywhere else. So gross ><

I found mine was always getting red and irritated and weepy, so I got a maternity pad, folded it in half lengthwise over the top of my undies, sticky side in, and tucked that right up against the wound, so it absorbed anything that leaked or whatever... managed to avoid the massive infection I ended up with first time around... almost impossible to keep it dry 24/7 when the skin hangs over like that, but the pad worked like a charm!

I use a tiny bit of Mycota powder in that area every day after my shower to keep the area dry and avoid fungal infections. It works with fungal infections under the breasts too.

Oh that sounds dreadful! *hugs!

For prevention, I reallllly recommend taking Clinician's brand 'Antibiotic Support' which is a probiotic, like inner health plus powder (or eating masses of acidophilus yoghurt) - it gives your body lots of good bugs and helps to treat it. White packaging with green, black and red writing, at most pharmacies.

After a stint in prenatal with a respiratory infection that required heavy antibiotics, I had my first dose of thrush - in my mouth of all fricking places! and the awful hospital people said that they can't give me a probiotic, if I get thrush then they'll give me canesten. Good on them huh, more drugs for the pregnant chick rather than healthy prevention!
Mum to two very active boys, born October 2008 and December 2010. Getting excited about becoming a Childbirth Educator, and LOVIN being a birth support to amazing and courageous women!
