Topic: Question about funded IVF rounds Posted: 04 February 2012 at 10:33pm |
Hi,
I am waiting for my review appointment with FA after 3 failed IUI with drugs, and mind getting ahead of me, I think we will probably be moving on to IVF. We are covered for one round with funding, and I was just wondering what one round meant. If, for example, we get 5 embryos as a result, and the one they put back in doesn't work, do we have to pay to have another one put in or does one round refer to using all of the embryos you create until you get pregnant? May be a really dumb question and I'm sure it will be answered at the end of next week, but nice to get some answers and advice beforehand.
Getting a better understanding will certainly help my head space before the appointment.
Thanks

One round encompasses all the embryos from one harvest. I had 10 harvested and 3 made it to blast stage. 1 was implanted resulting in a successful pregnancy and I have 2 frozen. It is my understanding that any treatment putting those 2 embryos in is free. The storage is only free for a year I think after that you pay yearly

Hi Buttonz - If you got 5 embies, they put one back and the rest made it to blast stage, that is considered 1 round. You can use those blasts at any stage at no cost. So you could potentially get your entire family from one round, if you were that lucky.
Thats what i was told through Fert Assoc anyway.
If none made it to blast, then you would have to have another round, and depending on wether the embie put back was successful or not, would decide if you have to pay or not. Confused??
