    Posted: 12 August 2009 at 11:07pm

DD is 4weeks old and we BF during the day and do EBM at night that her dad gives her so I can sleep WAHOO lol and plus he is up at night because he works nights. She latches after abit of faffing great, usually she likes to eat her hands first and gets upset because she isn't getting any milk so cute and so funny but so off the topic lol

So my question is, I demand feed atm but am thinking we will get into a routine in terms of the sleep, feed, play routine but still feeding when she wakes etc I am not going to wake her if she wants to sleep in in the morning I would love that lol can you tell I love my sleep.

Should I though be expressing at the same time everyday? I was expressing when I eventually could pull myself out of bed in the morning before her first feed as I am not feeding between midnight and 6amish usually so there was always ample supply. I expressed late last night as I was so full because we went out to Cirque and mum looked after her and literally half an hour before we got back home to pick her up she had had another bottle so wasn't going to feed again for a good couple of hours and I was sooo sore and full I needed to express but I haven't had to express today yet. Will expressing at different times of the day affect my supply at all?

I don't know if this is making sense I want sleep lol but I think ice cream is going to win out before sleep!

TIA

I tend to express before going to bed (as DH does the night feed), then if I can be bothered I also express the breast he doesnt have at his first morning feed.

I dont wake Elias to feed but he does seem to go 3-4 hours during the day between feeds and he is back asleep after his hour is up.

I express both boobs before going to bed so DH (or me) can do an ebm dream feed (we don't do it every night though, depending on what time she goes down and how tired we are, as it doesn't make a huge difference to how long she sleeps but I express anyway, unless she has woken for a late night feed) ... and also the boob not feed on during the first morning feed most mornings. We have quite a supply in the freezer now!

The amount of expressing definitely affects supply for me. (I had over-supply issues so had to stop expressing for a few days to calm things down). If she is way hungrier one day I will just express a small amount off straight after the first couple of feeds (to increase supply) and then both boobs at night as normal.

Not sure if all that makes sense ..... haha ...

I would try to express morning and night or just morning. I found that it was helpful to have a rough time to express as somehow I felt like my body prepared for it better but that may have been all in my head. LOL.
