Hi everyone
Lala1739 This thread is a great idea! I never would of thoguht to take a pillow in car etc so thank you, I'm def going to make a check list! It's also really helpful to hear the experiences of those who have gone through it!
I'm having a lap and dye on Wednesday and totally freaking out, like LadyBeeI am most scarred of being knocked out as my mind seems to just automatically fight things like I have been given morphine (sp?) and the gas stuff before for a broken arm and dislocated knee and even tho I tried hard to let go my mind fought it so much that I felt everything  , so I am just wondering if it overcomes my mind automatic response to fight it.
I just had my pre appt and was quite surprised that the only test they did was a pregnancy and my blood pressure and heart beat as I was expecting blood tests etc but am very happy didn't have to do one
I hope you are all well and those who haven't had the surgery yet I hope it goes well for yous and sending lots of baby dust

LuckySlippers, you will be fine and I don't think there's any way your mind can fight those drugs  I also had never been under general before, so was nervous about that too. But it happened so quickly, and it honestly wasn't even bad. Just give yourself plenty of time to rest up afterwards, spend heaps of time on the couch, and don't do much! Good luck

Hi LS, so glad it has been of help to you! I too was worried about anesthetic, but I really didn't have time to worry it all happened so fast and next thing I was waking up! If you are feeling quite anxious do ask for something to help with that when you first get there...
boy, my surgery seems like forever ago now, a bit ironic because my IVF egg collection was exactly 9 months after my lap - I'm now in the dreaded TWW...

Dont fear the drugs! I tell you it was the easiest part, the hardest part was waiting around most the day with no food and water! I was so dehydrated they had trouble putting my IV line in my hand but once that was in it was fine, All the nurses etc are really nice they are there to look after you.
I ended up staying the night as my BP was very low after surgery so take a night bag just incase this happens to you.
I took me a few days to feel better a week was more than enough tho.
GL Im sure it will be fine, any questions ask away

Hi Ladies,
Thank you so much for this thread! I am booked to have a lap and hysteroscopy on 6th Dec, going private in Hamilton with Lakshmi. My little sister has had really bad endo her whole adult life so I never complained about my AF - it's always really light but hurts like crazy, but I just thought that was normal compared to my sister's experiences. So I was quite surprised to find out I def have endo.
My mum is a theatre nurse, so I am used to all the surgery talk and it doesn't really bother me to have surgery (only ever had wisdom teeth out under GA though) but the tips you guys have mentioned really help me - mum is so used to surgery etc she kinda forgets about the person and how they may feel, and what would help 
So thanks for the tips, and if you think of any more let us know!
Oh, my sister said her shoulder pain only happened when she sat up straight after surgery so don't hurry too much, and she said remember you may not be able to sit up by yourself - you may have to pull yourself up with your arms or get help - abs a bit stuffed straight after surgery. But she had serious endo and was back to work (as a chef) after a week

Just bumping this thread as it has amazing amount of info for anyone having a Lap surgery  Got a letter from Waikato Hospital today, on the waiting list officially now (thought I already was!), they say under 6 month wait but could be contacted and have short notice as to the op. So my question to anyone whose has one is-was yours investigative or did they actually remove endo/polyps etc? Also any good news stories following Lap surgeries out there?

Hi there pitter patter, I had my lap in Auck in March. I think it is almost always investigative & minor surgery for the first one because that is all the surgeon will be qualified to do, they have to get a more experienced surgeon & schedule another time if any major scraping, removal needs to happens. That is my understanding anyway. My symptoms were major bowel cramping and infertility of 2 years & 5 months (in March). So they were quite sure with a family history of endo that I would have endo also. I already knew I had fibroids from the hsg (dye flushing) in July 2012. Surprisingly they found no endo at all during the lap! The lap itself wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. The worst part for me was trying to wake up out of the ga and trying to do a wee so I could go home. But of course I had no work done. Strangely though I have had no bowel or fibroid pain after my lap! The surgeon did examine my fibroids however so maybe she moved them into a better position (they hang by a stalk attached to the uterus!). Anyway that is my story.
