Gina is nearing her 1st b'day so I'm thinking of switching her from formula to milk - maybe.
But how would you do it? She has 3 bottles of formula a day at the moment - first thing when she wakes up, 1 after her nap at around 1:30pm and then another before bedtime. I thought I could possibly switch the mid-day one with a glass of milk but what about the others - I know she really wants her bottle first thing and I don't really want to ditch the one at night as she normally sleeps quite well thru the night.
Anyways, for those that have done the switch - how did you do it and how long did it take? Did you switch all feeds all at once or one by one?
I'm not too bothered BTW if she drinks milk or toddler formula - I'm just curious

I have done exactly that, she is on toddler formula from a bottle morning and night and midday she has water or cow's milk, from a cup and I will change her morning drink to a cup shortly and maybe cow's milk too after her 15 month check up (Not sure why then particualrly but it seems the "right time " for me. My rationale for keeping the formula feed is to keep her topped up on iron and such, but I am hoping she will become a little more of a meat eater soon and then that won't be a worry

Oliie was and still is drinking 3 bottles per day and what I did was mix up half a bottle with formula and the other with milk and then slowly decreased the amount of formula and put in more milk - use the standard blue top milk. I think from memory it took around 1 month before I switched completely and have never looked back.

We've just done this with Kryssi. At around Gina's age I put cow's milk (blue top) in her bottle instead of formula and she made no fuss whatsoever. So she has her regular bottle feeds with a different milk. She also gets water in her bottle but recently seems to want her water in a sippy bottle or cup (the messy choices lol!) rather than the bottle - perhaps she associates the comfort of bottle feeding with going to bed (because she gets fed just before bed x3 per day).

So the short of it is, very easy
Oh and in the last week or two she has been cutting down her milk feeds in favour of meals - so not much more feeds for her anyway I suspect.

With Andrew we mixing it half and half and slowly more milk than formula till it was all milk. It took us about 3 weeks to get him on just milk, and it took me a while to change him over, don't think it happened till he was 18 months.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I think I'll see how we go with her mid-day bottle as she's already not drinking the whole lot. I may try switching to milk from a cup at that time and see what happens. Will leave it for a few weeks though until she's settled at daycare and over 1 year old.

We changed one bottle at a time until she was fully on cows milk.

Faith was easy to change onto cows milk, the day she turned 1 I gave her, her only bottle at night time of cows milk and she didn't even notice the difference.

All the best with the change
