Lauren has developed eczema over the past few weeks and its food related I have noticed. It appeared to be fruit as that is what I used to give her for lunch and then also something in the Watties Organic mixed veges, I am thinking it is parsnip.

So I decided to make my own carrot and pumpkin puree which she is fine on. I am going to make some kumara puree tonight just for some variety for her, poor thing will turn orange if she eats anymore pumpkin and carrot!

So today I decided to offer her some apple juice diluted in alot of water in her sipper cup as I am just trying to eliminate exactly what is causing these reactions. Good thing was, she loved it, bad thing was she reacted immediately! Raging red patches developed all over her torso and down her arms and legs.

Why on earth would she be allergic to fruit and its juice? Is it the acid content perhaps?

Fruit of all things, I am a bit surprised by this TBH! The doc has advised she will grow out of it by the time she is one. I had eczema as a child so I am not at all surprised she has developed a wee bit of it, but to react to fruit for goodness sake!!??

IS this a common reaction?

Emma's Mercedes was allegic to bananas. Yep its not one of the main allergens, but you can basically react to anything!

Its often hard to pin point the cause, as it can take up to 2 weeks for reactions like eczema or bowel probs to appear after exposure to the allergen.

Just go slower than normal at intoducing a new foods. Dont introduce one new thing every few days, but every few weeks instead. Try diff combos of the stuff she can have.

And Isla did turn orange from too much pumpkin and carrot at that age. Very orange,..I had strangers and even health professional thinking she had liver problems!

Interesting kellz as it did take around 2 weeks to expose the reaction!

I am just going to take my time introducing new foods, she ates banana, like she full on gags on it, so I am going to offer it to her with the Farex, you know the Pear and banana one and see how that goes. I know its still fruit, but hey I gotta try these things!

I have heard of babies turning orange, gosh Lauren was orange enough when she was born as she she really bad jaundice! I don't want her being orange again - poor thing!

Thanks again for those clothes, Lauren has worn alot of them already on chillier days!

LOL I remember orange Isla!

And yep, my Mercedes was allergic to banana and sweetcorn of all the random things. The good thing is that after several months of avoidance she did outgrow them and now she has both with no probs.

I don't know much about salicylates but some of the girls on EBC have kids who are allergic to salicylates and I know salicylates are found in some fruits so might be an angle worth looking at?

Just to let you know as well that Spencer is allergic to parsnips and cabbage as well as some of the more common allergies and possibly other stuff I am a bit of a chicken about intoducing stuff to him.
My gp said that you can be allergic to absolutely anything (hmmm that makes me sleep easier)
