Ok so Jack turned 3 in Jan and started full time daycare at the start of Feb, generally about 6 hours a day. He has settled in really well and has even become day TT since being there. He had never been in any care away from me before this.

The problem is when we come home, he just goes crazy, throws things around, yells, refuses to say please and thank you, hurts Caprece, does wees and poos in funny places on purpose (wees in the vege compartment in the fridge today), gets up at night and won't go back to sleep, etc. He also doesn't want to go in the morning and comes up with any excuse. He has the loveliest teacher there who tells me he has made all these friends and does so well there.

I realise he is mostly after attention but even when I try and play a game or read he loses it when one little thing doesn't go his way and ends up throwing everything which ends him in time out. Does anyone have anything that works for them? Its breaking my heart.

The excuses of not wanting to go in the morning are because he wants to be with you. I had this daily with Alia & when I was ferrying her from Kindy to the cargivers she'd still do it. I was quite relieved when we changed back to our orginal caregiver & she picked her up from kindy.

Has he only just started? He might be quite tired & overwhelmed with it all.

Hey Rach,

I find Mac turns feral if he is hungry after DC. I now always have water and a snack in the car for on the way home, that way he is semi happy when he gets home.

Not sure if thats any help at all.

i find that while jake is ready for some mummy time, taine has had enough of company and wants alone time. i throw a dvd on, put some snacks on the table and leave them to it. jake usually comes and cuddles with me for 30 minutes and wacthes tv. Taine wander off and comes back when he needs some company.

perhaps Jack needs some "me-time"?

I think he is overwhelmed. Does he have to go full-time? Is he an introvert? He may be hungry and tired when he gets home but he may also just need some head-space. (If it was me at day-care, I'd be bollistic by the end of the day too, with all that noise!)

Thanks for all the replies, I think he is overwhelmed and tired and possibly wanting his me time. Hes used to playing on his own a lot so I might give him some food and drink and put on a dvd.

I'm studying full time so they are only at preschool when I'm studying or on practical. Caprece is fine when she comes home she likes cuddles so I guess its just finding what Jack needs.
