the problem is DP is very down about it, i could see the look on his face change when the doc was talking about it. Also when we were leaving the doc asked if we have thought about IVF. any tips on helping him through it?

also anything that he can do to help with this? i know there is a lot of information on the net but im to scare to look at it all

H!

Sorry I'm not much help but the thread on Male Factor Infertility below looks like it is has some good info. I do know that the test results can vary from sample to sample.

Hi H,

Firstly, sorry to hear this.

When my DH and I found out we would require IVF due to Male Factor Infertility he was so down on himself.
He blamed everything on himself and said he felt like a failure because he couldn't deliver what we wanted so much.

It broke my heart. Basically I just reassured him everytime we talked about it. I always refer to it as 'our' infertility. I sat down with him one day and just told him it was no-ones fault and asked how he would feel about me if it was my eggs that were the issue. Made him see sense.

He has come around and we are going through IVF currently and he has been amazing.

Also, get your Mr. on some Menevit I have heard that can do wonderful things for quality & count. It takes around 3 months to kick in though so start it A.S.A.P. Maybe get him to take it the same time you take your folic acid so once again it feels like a 'joint' thing!

Ha ha I feel like a Mama already!

Good luck!

Hey H,

My DH and I found out he had a count of only 2 million last year and 7% motility, we were referred to a fertility specialist straight away by our GP....I'm assuming your GP is going to do a referral for you? We were told by the specialist we would need to do IVF with ICSI-where they inject a single sperm into each egg. The information out there can be overwhelming and I have done a fair buit of googling about it all myself ( and gotten totally confused in the process!)
The main things my DH has done are to cut out coffee completely, cut out alcohol(still has the odd beer/wine on occasion) take menevit, and we have tried to 'healthy' up our diet a bit...
When we first found out my DH was gutted too, but I did the same as Parki and have always referred to it as 'our' problem or issue.
It helps to chat to others in the same boat on forums like these as well as I know sometimes I want to talk/cry/get angry about it whereas DH tends to keep it inside a bit more.

The other thing we have just started doing is acupuncture- both of us, and the acupuncturist seems very convinced that it will help with DH;'s count and quality so we will do another SA in a few months and see if it has made a difference...could be something to think about though, what she said to us seemed to make a lot of sense!

Feel free to private message me if I can help in any way or you just want to chat...there are a few other lovely ladies on here dealing with MFI too so they might have some helpful suggestions too :)
