Hi there,
Is there anyone in Wellington who is waiting to start their IVF treatment? I'm on the list to start Feb next year and am wondering if there's anyone else out there waiting too or have been trough Wellington FA's - does the wait list ever happen sooner than they predict? (I really hope so).

Hi poppy.
In 2012 we went on the donor waiting list (for sperm) and the specialist told us the wait was about 12mths BUT the nurses said it was 6mths. We got the call up after about 5mths to pick and it was bang on 6mths to start treatment which was basic inseminations.
Those didn't work so we were recommended to have ivf. Again the doctor told us 8mths waiting time however that same week the co-ordinator rang to organise it because we were down for my next cycle! So now half the time I never know who to believe. I ended up putting the ivf off until January due to my job and now waiting a couple cycles to replace the embryo.

I guess basically if it was a co-ordinator or nurse who told you the wait time then it's probably pretty right otherwise no harm in double checking. Also you could ask to be contacted should there be a cancellation.

Good luck :)

Hi babycrazy,
Thanks for your reply. Wow those wait times are quite different to what you were originally told huh? So I guess there is hope then. I received the letter though and it said I'll start treatment after my first cycle in Feb 15 so that's what the specialist said too.. guess I'll have to wait and see. Are you in Wellington, I'd love to meet people also going through IVF/donor just for support and being able to talk to someone who knows what its like.
Are you starting IVF Jan next year? I wish you the best of luck with this, good luck to you too

Hi again.

I live up in the central plateau but Wellington is our nearest clinic. There are some other ladies on here from Wellington who might be keen to meet up - hard for me living so far away :)
I had ivf January just gone but over stimulated so they delayed embryo transfer.

I guess if that's what the letter says then that's the wait. Sucky as that is! Have you got something you can occupy yourself with during that wait. For me even though our wait was shorter I got right into getting fit (running and circuit training). I'm a teacher so work made time go fast because before I knew it a month had passed etc.

Hi, thanks I'm sure I'll find others from Wellington eventually who are going through it too. That's a shame it hasn't gone according to plan as yet for you.
I'm a Kindergarten teacher, so my job also keeps me very busy and I do a lot of swimming.. so I'm sure it'll fly by, I think I'm just being impatient! But just so excited to get started

Can't believe how many teachers are on here. If you ever feel like hanging with a group a girls going through long time struggles pop into ttc 12mths thread :)
