Hi

We were suppose to have our first IVF a couple weeks ago but I didn't respond to the meds so it was cancelled. I was on the colorado procotol, with Buserelin then on CD1 started Gonal F 300 as well. I responded better in the past taking clomid than I did to IVF meds. So now I'm thinking if we try again we should use clomid/clomiphene instead if that's an option.

I was interested in seeing who else was out there who hadn't responded and what other options you have/will try?

Hi Tulip - not responding is so frustrating!

My first two IVF attempts were cancelled. I was on Gonal F & Orgalutran. They were pretty conservative doses as they were predicting that I would OVER-respond due to my high AMH. Obviously the opposite happened - nada.

I then did a round of IVM in Auckland. In some ways this was much better in that they retrieved a whopping 20 eggs. About 10 fertilised but unfortunately none of them made it to freezing.

Next step for me was Ovarian Drilling. The idea behind this was to try and boost my chances of ovulating naturally and / or increase my response to meds. Hasn't really seemed to help with either goal. Since then I've had a couple of natural cycles - one I ov'd at cd18 and the other I didn't ovulate. Then two cycles with Femara with the hope we could maybe go down the Femara based IVF route but no joy there either.

Currently we are planning to have at least one more crack with a more aggressive IVF protocol (seeing specialist next week) before potentially heading down the donor route.

Even though we haven't cracked the puzzle yet hopefully this reassures you that there are loads of different options and tricks the specialists have up their sleeves. If you have responded well to clomid before I'd say that would definitely be a good discussion to have to see what they think!

Hi SC

Thanks for letting me know the other options you've tried, it's good to know.

Gosh you've had a long TTC journey, I really hope your next IVF works out.

Hi

Sorry one more question, how long did it take after you stopped the IVF meds before your cycles were back to normal?

Hi Tulip,
Unfortunately it's pretty unpredictable. One cycle took almost 6 weeks for AF to arrive. Another was only 2 weeks. In both cases I remember desperately wanting AF to hurry up so that I could "move on". It's pretty sucky being in that position so I feel for you if that's where you are at right now.

Hi SC, yes that's where I'm at thanks for your reply. I'm meeting our specialist next week but I'm pretty sure nothing more will happen until next year now. I've just turned 38 so time is not on my side argh.

They might be able to give you Provera to kick start your next cycle if you have been waiting a while. Are your cycles normally quite regular? Mine are all over the place usually anyway even without cancelled IVFs mucking things up. Hopefully your AF is just around the corner so you can at least have some closure for your cancelled cycle.
