Hi Everyone

I decided that since there is no topic for Unexplained Fertility and I kind of feel like I'm out here on a limb on my own. I would reach out to any of you who have been diagnosed with this rather frustrating diagnosis.

How have you all got on with it? Have any of you got to the bottom of what is actually causing it ie any real reason behind it ie hormones throid etc? Anything you can tell me might help the Dr's to help me I'm at my wits end here.

Mine is well... weird... I get bloating followed by frequent urination, feeling exhausted and hormonal, then sore boobs around day 18 of my cycle for 3 - 4 days then occasional morning nausea full on preg symtoms by all accounts and I feel pregnant... but when I do a test I am not then get light (pre conception) spotting and then monthly as usual which is simply sole destroying Is anyone else getting these symptoms aswel can anyone tell me WTF is going on here?!

Be very interested to hear what experiences you have all had with this diagnosis and whether any of you can shed any light on likely causes.... I am thinking it might be something that is not quite so obvious... been through full work up incl hormonal tests etc which didn't show up anything out of the norm... up to hysteroscopy and laproscopy tests now done HSG also hubby also fine.... just strange really got preg 4 years ago easily ended in MC had D&C no preg since... 3 years of trying still nothing...

IUI? IVF? What have your experiences been with this? How did you all go with the criteria / qualifying I was told scored high with everything barr diagnosis which got big fat 0 and therefore stopped us going through for IVF with Otago after 5 month wait for apt which just crushed us.

Thank God we had a lovely 3 week holiday in Nelson to look forward to immeadiately after (and God did we ever need it)or I would have fallen apart was very on edge and distraught after all that. Finding the waiting very hard to deal with at times not the most patient person not a nice feeling having no control and not being able to call the shots on your own life is it really....

Hi Hopeful - Understand where you are coming from have been trying for over 2 years and have 'unexplained infertility'. Have been through all of the work ups HSG, DH sperm checked, etc and nothing
Have just completed my fourth round of IUI and really hope this is it, will be completely devastated if not
We are paying ourselves as my BMI is too high for public funding and don't know that we would score high enough given the 'unexplained' diagnosis

Hi Mrs Impatient

Nice to hear from you Fingers crossed things will work out well for you guys this time round (hugs)

Man my hubby and I have literally worked our butts off to get our BMI to where they should be but I have to say it was worth it we both look and feel fantastic!! I haven't looked like this for 12 years I can even wear a bikini again not that living in Southland is really much of an opportunity for that LMAO. You are so lucky you can go private wish we could it would be a bit faster.

We didn't even fork out for a personal trainer or go to the gym. It was all self motivation and done for free hubby was 127kg at his biggest he has lost 30kg and now runs 20km every 2nd day and he loves it used to be very fit when he was in his late teens early 20s and played rugby was just a matter of getting back to good healthy active habits and ditching our lazy bad unhealthy ones.

I was nearly a size 18 when I first started 4 years ago just prior to getting married, mainly thanks to my hubby's daily food addiction Cadburys King Size deserts range which he'd bring home unauthorised every night OH NO and guess who got fed half of it after sitting on an office chair full time and not doing much exercise to work it off me... so yes I went from a 12 to an 18 in 6 short months YIKES. I am now back to the size I was for most of my 20's a size 12 I have a small frame size 18 was quite big for me. I started with just 30 mins - 1 hour a day on the flat now I go walking for 2 hours every day or every 2nd day on walking tracks on the town boundary I mix it up and do the flat one day hills and steps the next.

I eat healthy and watch my portion sizes. Yes it is hard work until you get there but once you get there you just maintain and you can eat pudding and chocolate occasionally as long as it's not every day and you've gone for your walk you're fine :-) Best of all you don't put on too much extra while you are pregnant and you can qualify for public and not fork out $12,000 for private IVF so it's worth it for us :-D

Currently as it stands with us DH is in the last year of his degree private was not an option for us at this time. Not ideal timing but I just can not wait any longer age is not on my side I'm now closer to 40 than 30 :-/

Have been on this journey since I was 35 now nearly 38 1/2 my last two tests are at the end of the week so hoping I will finally have some answers and a diagnosis so we can finally go through for IVF or IUI.

Hi hopeful,
Don't have unexplained for us but just thinking about symptoms have you considered seeing a naturopath (not sure if you already have) about hormone levels as it sounds like maybe a progesterone issue. A couple years ago when we didn't know what was wrong I saw a natural hormone specialist who put me on progesterone cream which made a HUGE difference difference to my pms issues which were similar to yours. I've since stopped as we found out we had no sperm but am starting to notice similar issues returning.
All my progesterone bloods were always fine and high but she tests saliva which showed things weren't so flash.

Anyway just a thought. All the best :)

Thought I would post here too - know you all from other threads. I worked hard to drop my BMI and they did not even flippen way me and just asked what I was - too honest to lie! Got 2kg to lose to get me to 25 but I want to shift at least 5 if not 9!
Anyway I am unexplained to the most part. Just got told at last appointment that my ovarys have cysts -PSOC my new favourite google search and potentially endo but lap is 6months wait and won't help with getting pregnant so adviced to try clomid, IUI and then next year if we need it IVF. Our specalist said we would have enough points by next March (4 yrs) I thought it was 5 year wait but maybe I get some points for kinda know issues and maybe age??
It is not easy!

I just wanted to pop in and say that after 2 years of unexplained infertility we are 11 weeks preg with #2, I had tried Clomid, IUI for over a year and after having HSG it came back clear, my last resort before IVF was to have a lipoidol flush (poppy seed oil flushed through the tubes and bathes the uterus) they dont know why it works but it is believed to help implantation, first month i was pregnant so I have no doubt thats what worked for us (even if i was skeptical!) Its about $900 and you would need a fertility dr to book you one, they havent been so common in the past but are becoming very common and do have a good success rate (obviously depends on what the persons fertility issues are to start with). Best of luck :-)

Muuma2b - That is soooooo awesome, congratulations

After 4 rounds of unsuccessful IUI it is great to hear about alteratives to IVF (IVF scares me). I am not in the right head space for IVF yet and we have decided to have 4 months off go on holiday and then decide where to go from there. Will definately ask about the flush now!
