Topic: what time do your kids have tea? Posted: 14 May 2009 at 3:29pm |
we have usually eaten dinner together, but Lewis usually finishes work around 6:30, which means we are eating later - sometimes just before Lewis gets home, smoetimes after. Anyway, the kids don't eat very much, but i've not been that concerned. But with Taine having low iron, I'm wondering if perhaps I'm giving them dinner too late.
What time do your preschoolers eat dinner?

I try to have dinner ready by 6. If she isn't eating with us then she may have it a little earlier. I'm pretty strict with her bedtime (unless we are out or something) so its shower time at 6.30, then milk and into bed by 7 so can't really have dinner any later than 6 anyway.

I try to have dinner ready between 5:30 and 6. DH should finish at 5:30 but then he has to get home and is often later. If he there to have dinner that is great but quite often he will end up having dinner later. I often sit the girls at the table at 5 while I cook dinner and as I cut up the vegies I give them some to nibble on.
We try to get the girls to bed by 6:30 asleep by 7 so it is usually quite a busy time of night.

I have found with school I'm giving Alia an early tea, then doing tea for us at about 6.30pm.

If we are all eating together (about 3 times a week) then 5.15 ish, but DH & I are eating later on then Amy & Sophie eat about 5. If it is much after 5.30 when we sit down then they don't cope so well.

I have dinner with my 21 month old at 4.30pm, as this is when she is hungry and hasn't got past it behaviour wise. I am hoping to extend the time out as she gets older, so that we have later dinner time. I eat at the same time as her, because she eats better with me eating too, but unfortunately I get the munchies at about 9pm because I have eaten so early! And poor DH eats alone, because he can get home anywhere from 6-8pm.

Anytime between 4.45 and 6pm. Depending on what shift DH is doing and what we have on that evening. Now with swimming for the boys we will all be eating at different times.

I usually try and give mine dinner by around 4 or 5pm. We seldom all eat together as a result, but with my oldest I have to feed her by this time so she could be done by latest 6pm (she sometimes eats really slow) as we need to wait 2 hours after supper and then give her her chemo tablets. That way she goes to bed by around 8pm. When she is done with her treatment in September if all goes well, I am hoping that we are able to start eating dinner later at night so we can all eat together.

4.30 to 5.00. I find when it is too much later then he just gets really silly and hard to bath and get into bed.

Oli generally eats around 5ish, DH doesnt get home until nearly 6, and by that time I am trying to get Oli calmed down into quiet mode before bath / bed.
