I'm absolutely disgusted that anyone, especially a woman could ignore that poor girl.
A 13-year-old girl pleaded for help from a stranger minutes before she was dragged into bushes yesterday and raped in a daylight attack near a busy road.
Police say the girl approached a woman filling her car at the BP station on Great North Rd in Waterview, west Auckland, and begged for help after being followed by a stranger for about a kilometre from Pt Chevalier.
I agree that it's awful but I wonder if the women actually felt threatened by the teenager and maybe didn't believe her, in this day and age it's not uncommon to distrust strangers and their motives. Maybe she thought it was some kind of elaborate carjacking.
It certainly doesn't make the situation better but there are two sides to every story and I'd be interested in hearing why the woman drove off without helping.
I don't understand why the girl didn't go into the BP, ask them to call for help and wait until help arrived.
I really feel for the poor young girl and I hope that the evil thug is found and dealt with.
