yuk. sores.

Ella developed a sore on her cheek out of the blue - she hadn't injured herself there, it just appeared as a wee red lump that the next day was a sore . Thankfully it's not very big, but the Doc said it's either a wee scratch that got infected, or a school sore (*shudder*). He prescribed Foban (antibacterial antibiotic cream) and said that after a day of treatment she wouldn't be contagious if it is a school sore (which I imagine it is, as she didn't have a scratch there to start with).

She started treatment on Monday, and since then it hasn't grown (had been beforehand), but hasn't healed at all either. The skin just directly around it is still red. If anyone else has had *shudder* school sores, can you please tell me how long it took to heal up? I don't know if I need to take her back to the Doc for something else or just give the Foban more time to work it's magic. I'm treating her cheek, fingertips and up her nose (which Ella thinks is hilarious) to prevent re-infection.

Yeah they are gross, eh! I feel silly for being bummed that Ella has this on her face before seeing all her relatives next week... silly, I know! Thankfully it's only a few ml wide, but I must've turned green when I heard the words "school sores"! I've only seen them once before and that was a child at work who had giant ones all over him, poor kid.

Thanks. Yeah the Doc asked if she's around a lot of kids often... only 4 weekly events full of kids! But hey, something has to build their immunity, right?! I'm sure not cutting back on her socialisation to keep her bubble-wrapped at home (not that he was suggesting that at all).

We spent over 3 month's getting rid of the case Alan picked up from kinetting over the chicken pox. went around the whole house a few times. Not sure what your doc said about treatment meaning they were no longer catchy we were hosue bound for week's as we were told they were contagious till they heaeled. we had to wash all our bedding etc in anti septic wash. Admitdly we probaby had aharder time getting rid of them cause Mikey echema kept turning in to them if that makes scence. Good luck Andie hope it goes away soon if not get some oral anti'b we ended up all having some that seem to finally clear them up and and lots of hand washing.

Hmmmm, thanks for the advice, ladies. Well as usual Ella's seen lots of kids through the week so I"ll be kicking myself if she was contagious after all! Fingers crossed...
Luckily it was caught very early on as there's only the one, it's very small, and no signs of any more. The Foban seems to be working it's magic now

It ain't that strong never worked on my kid's. Not even on normal skin infeection's. My kid's were we were told to cover them. However unless Ella touched her face and then went and touched another child's cut scratch or something then chance's are there would of been no passing it on. If that makes scence its differnt at things like kindy cause there is less control.
