Hello!
Well i havent had another scan since thursday but have had five blood tests!! My arms are very sore
Apparently my hormone levels are too high so they have taken me off the puregon because i am at risk of getting OHSS. Im still on the buserelin which apparently stops the follicles from releasing. Hopefully they will tell me today that my hormone levels are dropping. I cant go to auckland and have egg collection until this happens. This is turning out to be a very long cycle!!!

Hows things with the down regulating Gizmog?

Hey there. Well I still haven't down regulated. Went for a scan and apparently I had a follicle and egg growing or something so they gave me a trigger injection and I have to continue on Buserelin for another 2 weeks then have another blood test to see if I have down regulated properly.

Hope the blood test today gives you some better results AmyRay - this is turning into a very long cycle for me too - looks like egg collection will be about a month later then first expected.

All the best

Oh Gizmog thats a bit annoying for you!!! So basically it sounds like you have to start your cycle again! Best of luck with the buserelin, i hope you're not too sore

My hormone levels have dropped since Sunday so this is a good sign. I had another blood test this morning so if they have dropped some more i will be off to Auckland tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!

Hi Gizmog! How are things with you? Have you had a blood test yet to see if you are down regulating?

Well quick update - i had 11 eggs fertilised up in auckland and they were all growing well. Cells from each were sent to Melbourne for chromosome testing and out of the 11 only 3 came back with the right number of chromosomes. So i had embryo transfer last Tuesday which went well. They only implanted the best embryo and left the other 2 to continue growing in the lab so they could be frozen. Sadly they didnt develop enough to freeze so we only have the one embryo that has been implanted.

We find out this thursday if the embryo has stuck or not so fingers crossed for us! Its a very nervous wait. Im back at work today - using work as a bit of a distraction. People keep asking me if i feel pregnant? ISometimes i think i do and then other times i feel like i have no symptoms so i can't be?? Its a very hard wait

Hey AmRay

Had another bloodtest yesterday and still haven't down regulated..grrrrr. The nurse said my estogen(I think) levels have dropped heaps so I'm very close this time. Have to have another bloodtest on Thursday but by the looks of it I should have down regulated by then, so will start the Puregon on Sunday/Monday.

Its kind of annoying having this delay but it can't be helped. I kinda think that its good things are going wrong this end but then I think maybe I wont react to the next lot of drugs as well. But only time will tell.

Glad egg collection went well and 11 eggs fertilised is great going. Sorry to hear that none of the other embryos made it but fingers crossed this little embie of yours has stuck and that you will be getting a BFP on Thursday.

At least you can be rest assured that its the best little embie that it can be.

Let us know how you get on, I will be keeping my fingers and everything else crossed for you.

Wow this IS an old thread!
Yep we're waiting for ivf/pgd and have had another 3 months wait stacked on, was supposed to be doing it any time now but on hold again. Also having second thoughts about it/fed up of waiting, hence ttc these last 2 cycles in a fit of desperate hope to avoid. Probably not wise I know, but hey ho

There's a thread in the everybody.co.nz forum if you haven't already spied (infertility thread) and I follow a few blogs of people who have been/are going through it. If you want to know the blogs, pm me and I will send links

If not, well, good luck anyway :-)

Hi

I haven't been through it yet but like you am going to start in a few weeks time.

We have been given a lot of reading material from our dr about it which I am sure is the same for you. I would be interested to hear from anyone that has been through it as well.

Good luck!

Spanky, how long have you been waiting^ Might pop over to everybody.co.nz, I haven't really discussed it much with anybody, so it's good to get everything out there! No doubt we'll be thrown to the bottom of the waiting list (we're both young, and I have a heart op next month so figure they'll take healing time into consideration)

Orca, no reading material yet, we're still in the "decision making stage" with the geneticists. We have an appt with our geneticist next week, so far they've really tried to talk us out of it, but my daughter and I have Holt Oram Syndrome and on top of giving us a 50-50 for the next child having it, he said it will most likely be worse off! (gee thanks mate!)

saw FS in March and he said 'see you in 2-3 months'. because I am not impatient at all (!) I phoned after 7 weeks to 'check progress' and turns out one of the pgd probes (they build 3 apparently) wasn't working so had to be rebuilt, also booking us in between 3 clinics can take two months minimum, apparently.
If its for the Holt Oram gene, I'm not sure how long you would wait. We are 34-35, no living children, and just the translocation that we know of. Supposed to be 3 months wait, although yopu never get a "definite timeframe".
Its still a chromosomal issue for you(?) and thats a different funding stream to 'usual' infertility, also depends on your clinic, if AKL is busier than welly or not (probably twice as much, as all other pgd couples come to AKL for egg retrieval and biopsy, as far as I am aware)

I'm not sure what it will all entail for us, but I was prepared to be on the waiting list for at least a year!!!

I guess I'll have more of an idea after our appt on weds! I'm so nervous about it all!!! I don't even know what clinic we'll be referred to, actually I don't know much about it at all, hence why I'm on here!!!!

BlondieKJ

I hope your appointment on Wed goes well and it helps you in making your decision.

I am still waiting for my period to arrive. How things have changed, I have spent 2.5 years dreading its arrival and now I can't wait!!!   Once it does arrive we will see our specialist to get the ball rolling.

I have mixed emotions at the moment, I am excited but very nervous.

Good luck!

I went through PGD in July last year. It definitely did feel like an extremely long waiting list, and heaps of tests that needed to be done. Our first embryo took, and split into twins, which we unfortunately lost at 8 weeks. After that had the other two embryo's that we had frozen inserted, one didn't take at all and the other we lost at 4 weeks.
We are now back on the waiting list for PGD which we were told would be in about Oct/Nov. We were told that in May, so therefore the waiting list is reasonably long, and there is only funding for a certain number of couples a year. As the probe has been made of us in Melbourne, we don't have to have the extra tests done.
We are at the stage though that we have considered just TTC naturally even though we know the huge risks and like my husband says, we haven't been through all we have to risk our children being affected.

Good luck with your PGD, physically I didn't find IVF too difficult, but yeah it can be pretty emotional at times. Its good to be able to talk to those that know what you are going through, cause so many people do not understand how hard it can be.

I was just told on Weds that there is no waiting list what so ever for PGD (question mark- as little one has ripped that particular key off our keyboard) Appt went well, sending our DNA samples off to the UK for testing should be back in 40 working days and then it's all go!

Mixed emotions as they are still deciding whether I go on the oral contraceptive or have the hormone stopper starter thing! (can't recall the exact name for it- but that's the general idea that I got).

Oh and they publicly fund 40 of these a year, you just have to meet the criteria.

Hi ladies,
I pleased to see others are in the same boat, although not pleased any of us have had to get to this point.
I'm in a similar postion as pgd is an option for us also.
Out of pure desparation, I e-mailed Otago fertility assocation and was completly honest with them, ie: We already have one perfectly healthy 3 year old boy and that we have'nt been trying for very long for our 3rd baby just starting our 6 cycle. However we have already had a deversating lost 6 months ago having lost our second baby at 19 weeks due to abnormalities. I also am a BT carrier which can effect fertility and carrying a healthy baby. However our second baby was not effected by this the course of the abonormalities are un-explained.
I recived an e-mail back replying that I can make an appointment with the receptionist to come in and go over our options. I will call them tomorrow.
I didnt expect it to be actioned so quickly as had herd the waiting lists are long and realise I may not have been a priory since we have been blessed with our wondeful son. So anyway just jumping on in here to offer my support to others and hopefully we can ride the wave togeather.

Sorry for your losses Inwaiting and thanks for sharing your story.

Welcome Topkat, very sorry for your loss, I can't imagine how devastating that must have been for you and your family.   Like you, we are lucky to already had a child and have been trying for 2.5 years to have #2 with 4 miscarriages our specialist suggested PGD as an option for us.

I have an appointment this Monday where I will be given the run through of my plan and when I will start things. I will be working towards an EC date of 2 Sept. I am nervous about the appt but eager to get started and will be good to have it all laid out and explained to us.

Take care everyone!

sorry have been a bit awol as of late, had a TOE on tues and it knocked me down a bit (came home with a BP of 113\37!)

Welcome TK, sorry to hear about your losses too! Looks like we're all sort of in the same boat regarding that we already have children, they don't seem to really take that into consideration with the waiting lists though, I think everyone is equal in PGD... (maybe?)

Would also like to hear how you get on Orca, Sept is so close!
