That's the great thing about deciding on a name early, you have while to get used to it.

With Sophia we had thrown names around since our 20 week scan, when we found out she was a girl (which was a bit of a shock since I was convinced she was a boy) We still hadn't decided and she was due in 2 weeks so we sat down and made ourselves make a decision. The problem was we loved the name Charlotte and knew it was 'the one'. We had names that we both liked but didn't totally love any of them. So we just had to accept that that was the way it was and go with it. Goodness knows what we will do if this one is a girl too.
We had gone through baby name websites, the Bible, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, The Book of 101 Opera etc etc and still weren't blown away by anything.

I really like Eliza and I will still push for that if this one is a girl. The other name that floated around for a while was Cassandra but our sir name starts with K and if it was shortened to Cassie it would rhyme with our surname so even though we both liked it we both knew it wasn't really right.

The name thing does my head in, it stresses me out more than the birth itself (especially now I've done it twice) because I think a bad choice can make a real difference to a child.

I have a list of requirements that a name needs to meet
1. Be easily pronounced from reading it (like at school when the teacher reads the roll, they will say it correctly)
2. Be a bit different but not sound like we were on drugs when we chose it
3. Be easily spelt (when you tell someone your name you don't need to spell it out)
4. To fit well with our surname and siblings names.

That all :)

I have booked my next scan for next Thursday. DH wanted to wait a couple of weeks so that we were a bit further along so they could see more and have more accurate measurements for dates. But I wanted to go next week while I was on holiday and the girls were at daycare so we could concentrate on the scan, not what chaos they were creating.

I will apologise in advance for my long posts. I write like I talk so you will get some novels from me

Oh and I rang my midwife today so I don't miss out on using the same one we had for Sophia. She said she would've taken me anyway but it's always good to be sure since they get so busy.

Kicks are one of the best feelings in the world

I've been taking Pregnacare since TTC with my first bub I'm still BF & my FIL gets it for me at cost price. Taking folic acid too, and complan shakes for breakfast.

That's great that you will have your previous MW Music_Mummy, and your girls have really lovely names Totally agree with your name checklist too!

Kicks *are * a great feeling...although I was just re-reading my posts from when I was 8/9 months pg with Clodgah and remembering how hard and uncomfortable my belly was...and how she took *forever* to get here lol

You guys are on to it with names already! Mind you, we had Clodagh's picked out before we even concieved lol. We did have a few back ups but just loved her name and stuck with it.  We'll definately go for another Irish name for this bubba too. We have lists for both sexes....we'd love another little girl but don't really mind either (DF says as long as its not twins!). Hmmmm speaking of twins, I wonder which of our lucky group is gonna get a suprise at the 12 week scan???  Every month someone gets twins.....bags not! lol

Vanessa- just read you got the mw you wanted, that's so cool aye?  I also got the mw I wanted- a different one form last time so I'm pretty excited about this new lady, apparently she's just AWESOME

Has everyone else got theirs sorted? They book up so quick, esp around Christmas....why are we having Xmas bubbas again?!

Milo- craving ginger's good, it helps with nausea and MS

I don't really have any cravings but after breakfast i really need to eat again at about 10 when before i never did???

I'm taking iron with folic acid (always been low in iron as deficiant in B12) and lost heaps of blood with DS so be on iron till the end i'ld say and a womens multi vitamin.

music_mummy- love the novels, i like coming on and having heaps in read in the morning

Emmecat- how do u pronounce "Clodagh"? i don't think i've seen it before, i'm guessin ur irish lol?

I'm definately not having last MW, i've done some research and found a lady who will deliver at waikato hospital but lives closer to us (over an hour away) long story short my last MW was not experienced enough to handle my long complicated and traumatic birth so need someone who can deliver at hospital (don't have a choice in that) and who is very experienced.

Have to agree about kicks being the best, although I have to add that having a hiccuping baby in your tummy is pretty cool too! DD had the hiccups ALL THE TIME!
I have an appointment with a midwife tomorrow. Since I am pretty early (i'm not even 5 weeks yet), I am hoping that I will have time to look around further if we don't get on or if I have concerns. I can't have the same midwife as last time as we have moved house since DD was born. I had a long chat to the new midwife on the phone the other day and she sounded really nice. I am curious what she will be like in person.
To be honest, phoning about for a midwife was the first thing that I did when I found out I was pregnant (especially since there is a decent chance that the delivery will be on or just before Christmas). I have been upfront with her about my first one being 12 days late, because I'd hate for my midwife to have big Christmas plans which either meant that she couldn't be at my birth or was missing out!
Last time around, I went into labour on Friday afternoon. My midwife was due to go on leave at 4:00pm on Friday and was going on holiday to Fiji on Saturday at 8:00am. When I saw her on Thursday, she said that she would leave her mobile phone on, just incase... When hubby phoned her to say I was having regular contractions, all I could hear her saying was "marvellous marvellous!". She was a star and stayed with us all the way through the (18 hour) labour (even though she was got a couple of frantic phone calls from hubby by the end). DD was born at 6:33am and the MW stayed around long enough to hand over to her colleagues and get everything sorted before running out the door. She went home, her hubby drove them to Auckland and they went to the matinee performance of Priscilla Queen of the Desert"!! As you can imagine, although everything turned out well, I am keen to make sure that I don't have a midwife who's going on holiday again!

I'm going to bow out for a little while. I started brown spotting again last night (the exact same circumstances and symptoms as when I MCed in October).
Not wanting to gt my hopes up too much as in my heart I think there is no more baby. Will be back either way when I know for sure to update (could be upt to three weeks as that's how long it took last time)

Best wishes to every one with their little bundles of miracle.

I have organised a specialist, my Mum insisted and is paying for it so that takes the stress out of it. I am monitoring my blood pressure because it can be randomly high sometimes, and also DH has a heart condtition, so we feel we'd be better off at a specialist in any case. But I think we'd be at a midwife if Mum didn't have such strong views on it hehe.

I have my first appointment at the end of the month which will be 8 weeks, can't wait.

Bubblebee- Clodagh is pronounced Clow-da.  I'm not Irish but my relatives are celtic and I lived in Ireland for a few years.

OMG re cravings!!   My first one hit yesterday...chilli Philli with plain chips  yum. Now having my 'second' breakfast of chilli phill and cuccumber sammies lol. I'm normally a bit of a health nut so hopefully this pg I manage to keep my weight down lol. Only gained 11kg with Clodagh...and lost 15 woohoo bonus!  That was by accident though, not design...had baaaaaaad ms till 20weeks or so and am now still BF so that helps HEAPSwith the weight loss

Lisa- you poor thing, ms is NOT fun. I"m a little worried it hasn't kicked in yet...but I'm wondering if this pg being my 2nd, I'm a little less nervous and less hyper aware like I was the first time around (and OMG I was the Paranoid Queen lol) ...also I have a VERY busy baby who keeps me moving so I just don't have time to feel like sh*t IYKWIM? Totally not saying ms is in the mind...I so know from personal experience of vomiting 4 times daily for the first 2 trimesters that its not  Or maybe my body is more used to the pg hormones now...or maybe it's just gonna start tomorrow lol YUCK

Emmecat I haven't started being sick yet fingers crossed I dont, but Ive started waking up feeling nauseous and starving at the same time and have to eat before I get up. I feel a bit carsick most of the time. Im hoping it doesn't go any further than that.

I think if you're distracted you're right you don't think about it and don't have time to feel sick. It might be better when I go back to work, at the moment Im on school holidays and so spending all this time at home not doing a lot.

Also hope you are wrong Weeheebaby.. I had brown spotting with my DD (after a miscarriage) and was convinced it was heading the same way. It never got any worse so all was fine.
I know what you mean though, its better to protect yourself just in case.

Which specialist are you going with Lisa? I'm with Neil Pattison. Have a midwife as well- which i havent heard back from yet (must get onto that), but i also had BP issues with last pregnancy. Had to be induced in the end, didnt get preeclampsia but BP got too high.

I am going to the Auckland Obstetric Centre in Parnell, they have 6 specialists and I get to see all of them throughout the pregnancy. I am looking forward to meeting them, they have a range of male and female so it will be cool to see who I like

yeah i have heard AOC are good. Neil is also in the bottom of birthcare in the same area as insight radiology. Its handy being able to get scans and have appointments straight after. Would imagine AOC do that too.

Anyone else have superhuman dog nose? Could my DD's nappies smell any worse? Ick does wonders for nausea.
