wow you must have been up very late or very early. I can't believe how fast this year has. I think it has gone faster now I am a Mum. I get married in 10 days so I bet it will go real slow till then now.

Christmas is soooo close! Havent started shopping yet - mind you we having a "low-key" xmas as we are moving a week after xmas and don't want to drag presents halfway up the nth island!!

I am so seriously broke this year it is not funny, so I am being a real scrooge when it comes to pressies. Mind you, I have laybyed and paid off over $400 of stuff for Maya, and am thinking I might put some of it away for her birthday in Feb coz she has way too much stuff.
We're going to bake biscuits for her swimming and ballet teacher and wrap them in little cellophane things with ribbon so that's nice and cheap, and I set a limit of $10 for each of my cousins and actually stuck to it. I was so stoked, the Warehouse had the water version of Twister for $9.88 so I bought that for two of my cousins, it is so cool!
Plus, I've been using all of her daycare artwork for wrapping paper. Not to save money so much, more to get rid of it! She brings home 3-4 pictures a day and I just can't bring myself to throw anything away...

i so understand the not having the heart to throw away Mayas artwork as i feel the same. needless to say lots of ppl have bits of the boys artwork and im sure they will throw it out but it least its not me. but what a good idea for wrapping pressies. im being scroogey this year too but then the boys had their bday in oct and got heaps then so they really dont need alot and they dont understand xmas yet anyway. its more for my sake that they get pressies  . Have been trying to scope out cheap pressies and slowly getting there!!! yay.

LOL Marlene, Maya's godmother took a huge stack of artwork last time she was here. I know she was going to chuck it, but you're right - its okay if someone else does it!

I baked heaps of biscuits and have special christmas cellophane bags from germany that I put them in, tie up with a ribbon and it makes a nice wee pressie. I also have a lovely christmassy walnut chocolate cake recipe and I bake those for special people, wrap them in tin foil and tie a lovely red ribbon around them. Cake is delicious and looks nice wrapped like that... and saves money!!!!

I am going to take some photos of Hannah (like I havent got enough!) maybe Xmas themed and make Xmas cards for everyone. Daniel is not very keen on her wearing a santa hat or antlers, but we'll see! Only buying for the kids this year (6 nieces and nephews) so should be relatively cheap - fingers crossed.

Maya's daycare does Xmas cards and calendars with either photos or artwork on them for a fundraiser, so we bought a whole pile. They haven't arrived yet, but I'll post a piccy when they do.
I went and bought presents for Mum and Dad and bros and sister today. All up $300, and I felt physically sick when I had to pay for it. Why do we do this to ourselves? I know xmas is all about giving, but they better get me some damn good pressies...

I'm part of an MSN group and we did an internet Secret Santa - one person collected all the addresses and dished out names, and then we each bought a $10 pressie for our person and mailed it to them by 1st Dec. We're all going to open them on 15th Dec together which is kind of cool.
