neocate (again)

I would recommend waiting to everything is a bit more settled down - unless him being warapped or having dummy are causing u a lot of problems? You are both going through lots of changes as it is!

I dont like the sound of licorice colored poo,..and along with the unsettledness,..I would get him checked by Dr. Save a poo before u go- they will wanna look- u can get a container from the dr first so u dont have to take in the gross nappy!

As long as he isnt constipated, I wouldnt worry that hes now only pooing once every 2 days. It makes since that it has taken him a bit to get used to the neocate too,...his whole gastic system is delicate and would have had to adjust to something new!

ithink dummy making him more unsettled as he wakes when he drops it!

you may notice a change in the colour of your baby's stools (ranging from khaki to dark green or even black), and differences in the wind your baby produces. This is perfectly normal , particularly if your baby is recieving little or no food. Neocate is a low residue formula. Low residue formulas lower the number of bacteria in the gut leading to reduced breakdown of bile. More bile is present in the stool making it greener in colour.

Greer was having black sticky yuck poos for a few days, but now they are just really really dark, and every few days.

Ethan hates being wrapped..we only do it cause he sleeps better..

thanks aimee...no i havent got that book..but i assume paed will give me info..the neocate lady when i asked her last time said green was fine..and it would be permanent till solid food..

kellz-yeah thats why for the dummy..and other peoples babies dont need them:) i think its afecting his sleep....but sometimes ..like this morning he didnt care adn slept without it (though that doesnt happen often) adn with it he has been able to go straight back to sleep at night time(except for the unsettledness ) without us puttin i t back in..its just during the day...and as far as unsettled forst 3 days was really bad then unsettled at day and fine at night (5-7 hours) then weird again monday and great again last night and today..babies eh:)

as for wrapping as i said he hates it..and fights it everytime but will sleep much better..so not sure what to do:(! i will phase it out certainly by 6 months as they say it affects development(not sure i beleive that) but hopefully have it sorted by then..I'm not one for weaning..probably go cold turkey on the wrap..:) but probably not on the dummy..he loves sucking his hand but obviously cant if wrapped:)

wrapping with one hand hasnt worked so fa but havent tried if for a few weeks.. if he wakes in the night we have to re wrap him and put dummy back in before sleep happens again..but he will get used o it..i think i will try still wrapping with one arm out and no dummy:)

The other thing is, are your wraps big enough? Bigger babes need wraps that are at least 1mx1m and most of the wraps you can buy are only 85x85. The Sleep Store has some info on swaddling older babes, I had to get new wraps for my girls coz they could houdini out of the smaller ones too easily.

I made some out of an old queen size sheet - got three out of it. And cot sheets are good for wraps too, thats what we are using a lot of now.

I have some AWESOME wraps that are really big. I think they're about $20 for 3 (at Farmers I think?), they're stretchy cotton. They're called bunny rugs and they're by mother's choice.

and I agree, I'd get / make a bigger wrap :)
