Emergency vs Planned

Just wondering who had a planned c/s and who had an emergency? Would you do an elective C/S for any future children?

When I was pregnant with the girls I knew from the start I wanted a C/S and when I told people that was what I was doing I got mixed reactions from people that had done it. I found people that had emergency situations had the scariest stories to tell whereas women that had planned thier C/S where telling a different story.

I was really happy with the outcome of my C/S everthing went smoothly and was great knowing what was coming every step of the way. I am planning on any future bubs being born by C/S.

I had an emergency one too and found it fine my body just took over and went with the flow at the time and i have healed from it well, i think the whole experiance was alot more traumatic for my DH watching on while we had all the intervention and then the CS and not being able to do anything about it where as i just went with it. next time i would like to try naturally but if i need another on whether it be elective or emergency then so be it at the end of the day i just want a happy healthy baby

I had an emergency c-section after (extremely) long labour, Turns out that my pelvis was just too small to deliver naturally, and I know if I have another child I'll be pushing hard for an elective. No way I want a trial of labour again!!

I had an emergency c-section first time around, was nearly a month early and baby was taken to special care, while scary and unplanned and not nowing what was happening, I am just very glad that baby was safe and nothing else at the mattered to me.

2nd tine round I was determined to try for a VBAC which was a success (forceps) and then with my 12 stitches was wondering why the hell I had insisted so much!!!!!

Am very glad I have had the opportunity to have both sorts of births, but if it had been needed would have once again done anything to have a safe healthy baby.

I've had 2 emergency c-sections but not had an elective before.
To be honest I don't really understand why women want elective c-sections.... I wish so much that I had never had a single c-section EVER.
I'm not getting at anyone because I am positive that everyone has their reasons, I just don't get it that all

I had an elective c-section. If I'd really wanted I could have pushed for a natural delivery as the Eimear was head first. However the chances were high that I would have needed an emergency c-sect to deliver Aoife (breech and IUGR) so we went with the doctors recommendation.

Like hila, I found recovery to be quick but I'll still be opting for a VBAC next time if possible.

I hated my emergency C-section. I felt like I failed as a woman not being able to do whats it so natural and that it was not the birth I wanted. I am desperate for a vbac, and do worry how I will cope if I end up with another section! It's horrible feeling that way, I have come to terms with my first section and I think it effected me more once DD was older, I never had bonding or BF issues thank goodness.

Everyone says its easier to get over an elective section or 2nd time round section but i'm not convinced, lol!

I had an emergecny c section after a 2 day induction, attmpted ventouse, 2 horus pushing that led to zero movement on her part. I had no problem with it.

We aren't planning anymore kids, but if i was to have another, unless everything was favourable for a VBAC (size of baby, postition, plus all those other little signs) I wouldn't even contemplate it. i am more than happy to have an elective, thatis what i would go for.

I had an emergency after 24 hours of active labour, worst thing was the epidural was too high or something and I could still feel the baby pressing on my nerves in my bum, (little toad turned posterior 12 hrs into labour) which meant i felt a great need to go to the toilet but wasn't allowed off the bed. i was in agony for 10 hours and cause the toad was perfectly happy in there they held off for ages before making a decision.
Next time I'll probably to do a VBAC cause the surgeon has written in my notes that there is no reason for me not to.
I'm a little bit sad about my c-section cause the whole 9 months I worried about giving birth cause I didn't know what it would be like, and since I still haven't, next time I will still worry about it.

I had an emergency c-section after 72 hours of labour (none of the start-stop kind either... so no breaks OR sleep!) and the rushing and panicking that followed (DS heartrate was going far below normal while monitoring during latter stage of labour, and by the time he was out, had an APGAR of nil, he was rushed to NICU before I even got a glimpse of him, and I didnt 'meet' him until he was 24+ hours old) had me terrified of possibly going through it all again... wasnt until I met DP and did some asking around and discovered that I 'may' be able to have an elective that I finally agreed to TTC... I am now back to being scared of what may happen during labour and birth as everyone seems to expect me to go for a VBAC, even tho the whole thing has me scared from the get-go. I got my notes from the hospital that did my c-section, and as there was no known reason (even though I have my suspicions) for DS to go into foetal distress, or for labour to be so prolonged... the ob put in my notes that I would be an ideal candidate for Trial Of Scar labour... I really dont think I will cope with going into labour, and knowing theres a chance of it all happening that way again. I would much rather have the elective, and know that things will go a lot less rushed and panicked at the end of the day.
