Hope your blood test went well Melskee - My HCG started off rising well, then went from the 50th centile, down to 25th and dropped right under the 5th centile.
It did continue to rise, but stopped doubling every 2-3 days - instead doubling every 6 days. My little bump is 11 weeks now and still going strong so even if you get what seems to be a crappy result, all can be OK!!

Good luck trouble :-) Hope it all goes well for you.

I had my EC on Thursday by GA (because I have Cerebral Palsy and my body doesn't always get the keeping still bit right! hehe). They got 17 eggs which we were VERY happy about :D, 14 of which were usable, 12 of which fertilised, and 8 grew over the weekend to what we were told were "textbook" embryos!!! Had ET yesterday and now waiting until the 3rd :-)

I'm a mixture of emotions really, I am excited but also nervous as everything has gone so well and now it's up to my body to get it right. Am getting a little paranoid over what to eat and what not to, but I figure as long as I listen to my body I should be alright . Any tips?

Good luck for your BT melskee :-) Thinking of you.
IVF#1 - November 2010 = SUCCESSFUL.

Hi all EC went well today felt better than what I thought afterwards now just feel a bit of pain but also off work tomorrow to chill out etc. I think I had GA as well - completely out of it. They collected 11 eggs. DH did sampel today although got call from scientist before to say that there was no swimmers in first sample so had to go back and do another one - the second sample better they found 4 usable ones and think they will find more once they start looking. Heres hoping at least some fertilise! Will let you know how they go.

I'm a little worried - had my first scan today and had 5 follies in total. Got a 2nd scan on Saturday, possible EC on Monday. 5 follies isn't much is it. The specialist said they had hoped for more, yet the nurse said to me afterwards that there is nothing wrong with that number and reminded me that it's quality, not quantity, and it only takes one... still. if the specialist is disappointed...

Exactly what I was told - "quality NOT quantity" and "It only takes one". Don't stress about it. Perhaps more may develop in the meantime?

I hope so. There are a few under-developed ones. What baffled me is that when I am on clomid (single dose) and get 5 follies, I am told I am an 'over achiever'. Yet when I have 5 follies with IVF, I am walking out of there feeling like things are not going as well as they could be. Yes I saw a different specialist who wasn't all gushy and informative, but still??? Thank goodness the nurse knows me well enough to see that I was visibly upset and whisked me into a different consult room and sat down and went through the computer notes and explained them further to me.

I am just clinging to hope that the fact that I don't have any problems GETTING pregnant will be my saviour with this IVF. And having an embie grow to 5 days just might be the key to it STICKING.

(Can you tell I am getting a bit apprehensive now the time is drawing near??)

Maybee baby - I wouldnt stress if I was you. My FS says the same they dont want heaps of follicles growing because higher chance of them not being mature. I had 9 at my first scan and 12 at my second scan so they do grow - out of that I got 11 mature eggs so maturity is what they are looking for. My FS is the same he is lovely a male and quietly spoken but not overly communicative but will answer any queries that I have. I am sure it will be fine.

Maybeebaby, did they up your puregon injections to increase the maturation of the follicles? Assuming you are on that (or gonal F)

Thanks so much for replying! I feel so darn isolated with this IVF stuff, I don't want to let anyone know we are doing it because we have been given so much grief over past conceptions (why don't you try this, and this, and this?) and miscarriages (did you do too much? what did you do to cause that?) and people who don't go through this just don't 'get it'.

I feel so together in myself when at work, like I am in control, and then I come home and start thinking and stressing and worrying! The only people I have spoken to is my SIL and one other very amazing loyal lifelong friend, SIL has been through IVF successfully (twins, now 4yo!) and my friend is just AMAZING with her support (she has had 3 children naturally but really tries to understand for me, bless her), but I still feel like I can't really 'talk' about it to anyone, and more often than not I shrug/laugh it off when either of them ask about progress.

Hubby is really awesome and supportive but I hate for him to see me getting wound up so I just potter in the garden or go for a walk to wind-down cause if he sees me upset, he gets upset too - he has been through so much I hate for him to get upset as well as we have just been through so much over the past 4 years TTC.

Tasi45 I have been on Gonal-f 300mg, this is my 7th night. I didn't have puregon (I think that's the gonal-f equivalent?).

Yeah ditto what taasi said. This was my first cycle and I was on 300 puregon (same as gonal f) i think. FS wants quality not quantity and you never know what happens growth wise in a couple of days. Maybe you are a slow responder and you need the up to 250 or something like that. maybe speak to your FS. If you have too many follicles then you are at risk of OHSS.

Im the same we havent told many people not even our parents only bestie from NZ knows and 3 people from my work including good friend that has been through at least 25 IVF cycles and my manager who understands totally!!

Also if this is your first IVF cycle then the first cycle is more a trial to see how you are responding to the drugs and treatment etc. The FS only guesses your first cycle sees how you respond and then will up or decrease dosage accordingly.

I am on 300 gonal-f, and this is the one and only time we can afford to do this IVF so there's no second chances. They have put me on this dosage because after two years of fert treatment with IUI's and natural conception (but using clomid) they have a good idea of what I need.
