Hey ladies!
OK so I have a serious love of discussing names and since my husband is so sick of hearing me talk names all day long I'm turning my focus to OB

I thought the pregnancy section is the best place to put this as most of you preggys ladies are thinking of names as well (By the way I'm not pregnant just TTC)

So go nuts. What are your likes and dislikes. Your opinion may help other lovely preggy ladies come up with names :)

**** PLEASE NOTE****
None of this is to be taken personally. Everyones tastes are different feel free to tell us what kinds of names you do or don't like but don't single people out. Also don't take offense if you see someone talking about a name on your short list. This is all meant for fun and to give others ideas

So I guess I'll get things rolling :)

I'm so freakin picky it's not funny lol. I love tradional names. I prefer them to only be one or two syllables and I'm not a fan of unique spellings. For our girls we went with Hazel Ada & Esme Lily.

So for our next baby my top two names are
Stella Rae for a girl or
Beau for a boy but I can't seem to find a middle name that sounds good with Beau.

Also on my short list
girl -
Estelle, Lucy, Maggie, Ruby
Boy -
Noah, Jerome, Rex

I adore the name James cause of my Grandpop but can't/won't use it cause of another family member.

Same as I like the name Dave but would never use it cause it's my Dad's name.

Cause DH & I have different names we wanted our kids to have different names but ones they won't hate like we have! Although Cooper is quite common now days!

I love the names Caitlyn, Catriona, Joshua, Lachlan, Sara, Claire, Eileen, Finn.

I'm sure I'll think of more!

We like traditional names but not popular ones.

We've also had lots of pets with proper people names that puts me off ever using them on the kids. ie; Max, Rufus.

I also like names that translate well into adult hood. ie: James/Jamie, William/Wil
Our girls picks are Catherine or Poppy. Poppy came about cause I'm due around the 11th of November.

I hate alternative spellings too, Jackson I like Jaxon just make me think the parents can't spell.

Growing up with an unusual name that I hated, and am forever correcting the spelling or pronunciation.

There are a lot of Grandma and Grandpa names around at the moment some work some don't.

Lisa, Mac was going to be Beau but we had the same issue with the middle name so gave up and went with Mac instead.

I don't like popular names as always feel sorry for kids that have to be called their name plus their initial.

I actually spent 6 months studying and collating all the names in the Saturday papers so I could avoid all the common names.

I went to school with a girl whose Dad got her and her sisters name from the obituaries.
DH and I go to the cemetary every ANZAC day we were having a look around the gravestones for inspiration too.

I don't like very old fashioned names, but I don't like very modern names .
And TBH , tho I love the names I have on my kids , they were never ones that growing up were my fave name .
Caitlyn is Caitlyn Rhianna , and I chose the Y because when I looked in the name book , with an I it means Pure , with a Y it means pure beauty .

Tyler is Tyler Brin and DH chose Tyler after Brad Pitt's character in Fight Club (rolls eyes ) and Brin is after my grandfather .

THIS one , will be Ryan for a boy , or Alysha for a girl (I like Ys in names, well , I don't really care that much , but the other 2 have Ys so Y not this one )
I have no idea for middle names tho , so any suggestions would be great .

I love the name Stella , I know 2 Stellas , one is a Stella Rose the other is a Stella Kate

Oooh I love talking names too! I'm finding it really really hard to find a boy's name this time round, but we'll get there in the end I spose

I'm also a fan of traditional-ish type names and not a huge fan of random spellings of traditional names. Last time I was in Australia there was a kid in the playground called Banjo and on one of our recent visits home to NZ I heard a mother calling her son Turtle..... each to their own though!

For my own kids, DH and I like Irish and Scottish names because of our family heritage. I think girls names are far easier to come up with, there are so many more options!

I love names like James and Daniel but we can't use them because I have close family members called James and Daniel (same goes for nearly every other traditional boy's name around! Lots of boys in our families).

For girls I like oldfashioned pretty names and for boys I like orignal not very common names.

DS is Cody Quinn though I kinda wish that we had made him Cody Dean as that sounds better.

My top girl name at the moment is Clara Louise and top boy names are Logan and Joe.

I like Beau as well .

I hear ya on traditional Irish and Scottish names for boys, especially when boys were automatically named after their father / grand father there isn't a lot of variation.

I also like royal names they're also reasonable common so no troubles with spelling.
We're not christian however some biblical names are nice.

I've found it interesting that my friends with popular names themselves have given their children more unusual names. My friend Rachel named her girls Aaliyah and Delta.

When I was little I always thought it was cool when there was someone else in the class with the same name as me... infact my best friend had the same first and last name - I think that's the only reason we were friends

DF and I struggle to agree on names, but for this one we are thinking Kasey for a boy and possibly Abby for a girl (he doesn't like abigail so would have to be abby)...

my fav boys names are Elliot, Luka, Ari, Lewis and Finn none of which DF likes...

For girls I love Ruby, Willow, and Greta but DF doesn't...
mum to 3 lovely girls :D

I've had to add Ruby to my short list now lol I loooove it! Beau James is quite good. It's almost impossible to find anything to go with Beau. I suppose I don't have to give a boy a middle name but the girls have one so for the sake of uniformity I don't think I could do it

I have always wanted Rex as it's my Dads name but DH hates it so Beau is my next fav. Fo awhile I loved Noah Dean but Noah is really popular at the mo so it's put me off a bit.
