Topic: On a break Posted: 12 July 2008 at 11:24am |
Hehe, I'm starting this thread for those of us floating about OB who are like Ross & Rachel on Friends and are "On a Break"
I'm not not TTC, just taking a step back from the more intense parts of it like charting and constant undie-watching for CM we've decided that until I have my Lap to remove my Endo, which I'm on the waiting list for (one month down, approx 5 to go...) that we'll just wing it and see what happens - maybe even enjoy sex for the sake of it - shock, horror!
Plus I start my new job in a couple of weeks so will probably need a bit of the concentration levels I've dedicated to TTC for that for a bit!

I'm on a break too. Had my second m/c a couple of weeks ago so am taking time out to see a specialist and get tested as well as having a break from the stress. I am definitely not ttc because I am scared of getting pregnant at the moment in case I m/c again.

Anyone else feeling oddly without a 'friend' on this break? Now that AF is all over it's kinda weird not to be reaching for my thermometer every morning, but so far I'm enjoying it (how contrary am I sounding! )
Will probably have to stop myself doing some mental arithmetic later on in my cycle though - it's become such a habit knowing what's happening on what day of my cycle ... should probably remove my ticker so I'm in ignorant bliss the whole time!

Lol I removed my ticker, I don't want to know where I am... I think I'm past day 40 now though
Ahhh, I guess I'm lucky, when I decide to have a break, I really get one... don't get AF so no reminders for me... although I was charting and found that a bit hard to break the habit, but am now totally over it with the thermometer hidden well away

Thought I would bump this thread up... it still applies to me, guess it continues to be true for others too!
Three days into my new job and if every day is like today was there won't be a lot of time to contemplate the time til my surgery and the whole TTC thing - which I guess is good, though I wouldn't mind an update on where my surgery is placed and maybe an actual date confirmed.
Now that I work for a government department they're very strict on personal internet access so not so much chatting in here from me anymore either apparently they monitor who logs in where and for how long then name and shame the high users so I'll behave and not sneak in here during the day as I don't want everyone knowing I'm addicted to OB

Ah Angie, that sucks not being able to use work time for personal internet time! lol
How is the job going though? Enjoying it?
Well AF is due tomorrow....I *think* and boy have I got a baaaaad dose of PMS!!! Haven't been like this for a while. Am feeling sick to the back teeth of men and children in paticular and just life in general really......hope AF arrives soon and puts my hormones out of their misery (not to mention DP and child lol).

Im on a break lol, just noticed this thread.
Im over it.. have lost my cluck and plain and simple can't be bothered and I have been alot happier for it and so has DP and I don't think we have "done it" since I decided I wanted a break either and that doesn't bother me at all lol
Im over m/c's, BFN's and chemical pregs and pretty much wouldn't mind if I never had another one at the moment... I know that will change at some stage but not right now. DP has been talking heaps about having another bub, he wanted a break as well in the beginning but I think he is getting nervous because I am so off babies at the mo and I know he wanted another one. In a way it will be good, Neosha will be a bit older and I won't need a double buggy so it's all good AND im going to have a raging 4 days in Auckland in 3 weeks BABYLESS lol so im going to make the most of it while I can. I have even told DP that if he wants to start DJ' ing again at night he is more than welcome lol im being pretty blazee about it all but heres hoping my cluck doesn't come back with avengence!!
Sorry about the novel

im in here too, but not by my choice... hubby doesnt want to try again for he says a year, i say 6 months cos i am so clucky and if it wasn't for him saying that he wants to wait then i would be trying as soon as possible!
I know he just doesn't want the stress of last time and i understand that cos god knows i never want to go through that again but man, i can't stop thinking about babies!

Hey Hannahbil, after my miscarriage my DH said he didn't want to try again for a whole year as well! Then he kept noticing all the cute babies all over the place and decided he did want to try again, so we did! (and touch wood I stay pregnant this time!)
Hope your DH realises how much he really does want a baby soon so you can get back to trying again

Aww, thanks Hannahbil, I hope so too! Having my first scan at 6:20pm tonight, pretty nervous/excited!
I told DH I didn't want to go back on the pill because of how screwed up my cycles were after finishing it, so he had to use condoms if he wanted to get any he soon got bored of that!

Me too. Got my surgery next week and the surgeon said no TTC for 1 month after lap.
I have to say I'm actually dreading going back to TTC. I still want a baby, but the last few months (well this whole year really) I've been pretty casual about TTC - keep forgetting to temp and stuff because I "knew" I wasn't gonna get pg and was just killing time until we could see a specialist. And the last 2 months we haven't even been trying because we found out about the endo and well "doing it" has been getting more painful for me recently so just am not interested.
Anyway, the reason I'm dreading going back to TTC is because its like starting over again. When we first start TTc, no matter how much we tell ourselves its not going to happen the first month and it could take awhile, deep down we all expect to get pg pretty quickly. Then after about 6 months you start having doubts and you get really really upset when AF arrives (as opposed to just upset for the first 6 months). After 12 months you just don't expect to get pg any more so it doesn't bother you when AF arrives. Well that is how it went for me anyway. Now I have a reason for why I haven't got pg yet and once that's gone there won't be any reason why it shouldn't happen. And all the doctors and nurses and educators (I'm a patient at the endometriosis clinic here in Chch and had an appointment with the head of the NZEF who is also an educator) keep telling you the lap will greatly improve your fertility. And even though I *know* that it's not going to happen straight away and that I could still need to do IVF I just know that when I go back to TTC all the angst is going to be there again. I'll be back to temping which is fine - but the worst thing is that I'm going to have hope again . I've really enjoyed the last few months without all the stress and TTC angst and now I'm going to have to go through it all again. It really is like starting from day 1.
Anyway sorry for the novel but the rant kinda got away from me!
