Lamb tagine
At seven months old, your baby needs 8mg of iron each day – the same amount as their dad needs! Red meat is high in iron and is readily absorbed. If you love tagine or curry flavours then this is a lovely first step towards your baby enjoying them too, and a good first transition to savoury meat.
Ingredients
150-200g lamb mince
Pinch of mild curry powder
Pinch of cinnamon
1 cup pumpkin or kumara (peeled and cut into small cubes
1 carrot (peeled and cut into small cubes)
2 organic dried apricots
1 cup water
Method
1. Cook mince in a pan with a small amount of oil.
2. Add spices to the pan and simmer for a few minutes.
3. Add pumpkin/kumara, carrot, dried apricots and water to the pan.
4. Simmer for 15-20mins until vegetables are soft and meat is thoroughly cooked. Add more water if needed.
5. Allow to cool and then blend to a smooth puree or mash with a fork.
