We talk to Erin Kemeys, the business woman behind Willow & Maddie, about her business and the family/work balance.

Tell us a bit about your business:

Willow & Maddie is the first company in New Zealand to bring the world famous baby bassinet, The Snoo, to Kiwi parents. The Snoo helps parents all over the world get more sleep and we decided that families in New Zealand could not miss out on this opportunity! We offer the opportunity to hire the Snoo bassinet for periods of two weeks to six months.

What’s your biggest inspiration?

Parents all over the world who are authentic and aren't afraid to showcase how incredibly challenging parenting can be at times. I admire parents who are passionate about speaking up about the mental health challenges that parenting can bring. I had my own struggles with postnatal depression, as well as postnatal anxiety due to sleep deprivation, and that actually motivated me to start this business – to help other parents who were going through the same thing.

How do you find a balance between family life and your business?

I will always be working on this, but definitely a supportive family and having the right mindset helps. My son, Theo, and I have so much fun together when he is awake but he also likes independent play which means I can sneak away to cross a few things off my to-do list!

What’s on the horizon for your business?

Lots more sleep for New Zealand parents and more amazing products!
