Peanut puree
Nuts are a great source of protein for little ones. Introducing nuts in the first year of life can help reduce the risk of nut allergies. Start with smooth peanut butter or other nut butters and add these to a vegetable puree or with chicken to make a first chicken satay. This is an easy recipe and can freeze well if you want to double or triple it.
Ingredients
1 tsp nut butter (such as peanut/almond/cashew)
1 carrot (peeled and cut into rounds)
¼ of a kumara (peeled and cut into cubes)
Method
1. Steam chopped kumara and carrot until soft.
2. Place all ingredients in the blender and blitz until smooth, or mash with a fork and serve to baby.
3. Can be placed in ice cube trays and frozen for another day.
