Read MoreBath time in our home has always been one of my favorite times of the day. I love that it slows everyone down after a busy day and gathers all the kids together in a beautiful, warm and inviting environment. It’s been a part of our kids bedtime routine since they were newborns and it’s definitely saved my sanity a few times after a chaotic day. There’s nothing better than gently massaging baby with a beautiful smelling massage oil to help them and you sleep better!
As the kids have grown older, we have introduced new bath and after bath products to their bathtime routine to suit their ages. However, there are so many prducts on the market and sometimes it is hard to know where to start and which brands to trust. Ecostore products have been perfect for our family as their range caters for newborns right through to school age kids. I love that their products are all natural and they smell and feel beautiful.
Here is a list of beautiful products I like to use and the ages and stages I try to introduce them into our bathtime routine, from Newborn right through to five years old.
Newborn babies
A newborns skin is more vulnerable to it’s environment than an adult’s because its protective barrier is not yet fully developed. Because of this, babies should only be bathed 1-2 times per week in luke warm water and don’t require soap – plain warm water is fine. At this age, I have always enjoyed giving a relaxing pre-bed massage after a bath, or a during nappy change as it is the perfect calming and bonding experience at the end of the day. Ecostore’s Baby Oil is perfect as it is all natural and made with relaxing lavender essential oil which helps mum and baby to both relax at the end of the day
Ecostore Baby Moisturiser is another great option for providing a soothing baby massage as baby gets older. It smells and feels devine and has become a familiar evening smell in our house. I think this has added a sense of calm at bed time and acts as another sleep association for the big kids too!
All of our babies have had some form of nappy rash at some point for various reasons from teething too starting solids. I always make sure I have Nappy Balm on hand just incase. Ecostore’s Baby Nappy Balm is great as it helps to soothe irritated skin and also forms a protective barrier against nappy rash. It’s made with antibacterial New Zealand native horopito and protective zinc-oxide. This fragrance free nappy balm is naturally derived and is effective whilst being gentle on baby’s delicate skin.
Baby 6-12 months
As our babies have gotten older, we have increased the number of baths they have each week. From 6-12 months old, they still only need one to two soapy baths per week, however we have found that bath time has been a pleasant way to calm baby down before bedtime, and has become a part of their bedtime routine. From this age we like to introduce a dash of Ecostore’s Sleepytime Bath while we are running the bath. This blend of relaxing essential oils and soothing organic chamomile is perfect for soaking baby in while they enjoy their bath!
During this age and stage is also around the time we introduce a gentle cleansing product at bath time. As baby becomes more mobile and starts eating solids there is a tendancey to get a bit more grubby. Ecostore Baby Soap, Baby Body Wash and Shampoo gently cleanses their delicate skin without stripping the natural oils that protect baby's skin. These products provide the perfect combination for an all over clean while bubs is still small.
Big kids aged 1-5 Years old
When the kids are bigger, I have found there is a tendency for one or all of them to refuse to have a bath when they are having too much fun doing something else. This is when there is nothing like bubbles to get them excited to jump on in. We have found Ecostore’s Bubble Bath is prefect for this. It is gentle on young skin and is even hydrating so their precious skin doesn’t dry out. Most importantly though it makes lots and lots of BUBBLES that really last!
Now that they are a bit older, my kids are also obsessed with washing their hair! We have recently discovered Ecostore’s ‘2in1’ Foaming Body Wash & Shampoo. It is a relatively new addition to the range and works a treat. It is super foamy which is not only fun, but it also helps to keep the shampoo out of their eyes and ears even if it’s gentle ingredients mean it also won’t sting eyes if some does get in.
We hope you and your family love bathtime as much as we do!
