CRAFT: playful painted pebbles
Put your child’s pebble collection to good use with these projects that spark creativity and imagination.
'TELL ME A STORY' PEBBLES
You will need:
🦋 Flat pebbles of various colours and sizes
🦋 Acrylic paint
🦋 Paintbrushes
Method:
- Clean and dry the pebbles thoroughly and paint them with acrylic paint. Your imagination is the limit! Butterflies, rainbows, snails, flowers, trees…
- Let paint dry completely. Encourage younger children to create a story with all the pebbles in front of them, choosing one after the other to complete their tale. Older children can have some extra fun by hiding the pebbles in a cotton bag, pulling one random pebble out at a time and having to create a story from whatever pebble they pick.
BEES AND LADYBUGS AKA NOUGHTS AND CROSSES

🐝 10 small flat pebbles of a similar size
🐝 Acrylic paint (red, yellow, black and white)
🐝 Paintbrushes
🐝 A 15x15cm square of plywood
🐝 Black Sharpie feltpen

Method:
- Clean and dry the pebbles thoroughly and paint them with acrylic paint. Paint five pebbles as ladybugs and five as bees. Let them dry completely.
- Using a black Sharpie and a ruler, draw straight lines 5cm apart on the plywood square in a grid pattern.
- Sit down to a game of noughts and crosses.
