DIY: how to turn a toolbox into an art caddy
Cooler weather calls for creative indoor play. Here's how to turn a toolbox into an art caddy.
YOU WILL NEED
⚬ Resene testpots in your choice of colours
⚬ Resene Quick Dry Primer
⚬ Paint brushes
⚬ Masking tape
⚬ Wooden toolbox – buy a kitset or make one using five wood panels cut to size and a wooden rod for the carry handle
Top Tip: Repurpose cups or jars and paint in different colours using Resene testpots to keep art supplies organised in the caddy.
METHOD
1. Make your wooden toolbox using five panels and a wooden rod for the handle, or assemble your kitset toolbox.
2. Sand any rough edges.
3. Paint toolbox with one coat of Resene Quick Dry Primer.
4. Using the Resene testpot colours of your choice, paint the toolbox panel by panel. You will need to use masking tape around the edges of each panel to stop the paint going on surrounding panels and to make the edges neat. We did two coats of Resene paint for each panel, waiting for the paint to dry completely between coats.
