DIY: Parking garage

Your little ones will love this DIY parking garage to stow away their favourite vehicles in style.

You will need:

1 crate (ours was 40 cm in height,
31 cm wide and 25 cm deep)
6 round cardboard tubes or boxes (ours were 16 x 12 cm)
Clear craft glue
Resene testpots
1 piece of pine for garage sign which is 36 cm long, 6.5 cm wide and 1.8 cm thick.
Paint brush, fine paint brush, pencil
Wooden letters to spell 'parking garage' (optional)

Step 1. Paint your crate. We used Resene Spanish Green and gave the crate two good coats of paint both inside and out. 

Step 2. Paint your cardboard tubes. We painted ours Resene Cabbage point on the outside and Resene Spanish Green on the inside. 

Step 3. Paint your piece of pine for the parking garage sign. We painted ours in Resene Pumice. 

Step 4. Write the words 'parking garage' onto your sign in pencil and paint over the letters with a fine paint brush, or you can use small wooden letters. We used wooden letters painted in Resene Cabbage Point. 

Step 5. Glue the inner sides of the cardboard tubes together. Repeat this for the 6 tubes then stack inside the crate and glue together so all tubes are joined. 

Step 6. Glue the letters onto the garage sign and glue sign to the top of crate. 

Step 7. Add your cars and vehicles into the cardboard tube homes.
