DIY: contain the softies with this great toy zoo!
Keep your little one’s soft toys at bay with this cute toy zoo
You will need:
〰️ 1 piece of 3 mm MDF board 42.5 cmx45.5 cm
〰️ 8 pieces of pine 40 cm in length by 6.5 cm wide and 2 cm thick
〰️ 4 pieces of pine 80 cm long, 4.2 cm wide and 2 cm thick
〰️ 12 lengths of cotton rope 5 mm thick and 90 cm in length
〰️ 24 eyelet hooks 1 cm in diameter
〰️ Screws
〰️ Power drill
〰️ Power driver
〰️ Resene testpot and brush, we used Resene Dusted Blue
Step 1 Take 4 pieces of the pine 40 cm in length by 6.5 cm wide and 2 cm thick and screw together to make a box frame. This is for the bottom of the zoo.
Step 2 Repeat step 1 and make another box frame for the top of the zoo.
Step 3 Screw the 4 long pieces of pine which are 80 cm in length, 4.2 cm wide and 2cm thick into the inside corners of one of the box frames.
Step 4 Repeat process 3 for the other box frame so you should have the two squares top and bottom and the long lengths in between.
Step 5 Secure the square base board to the bottom of the square box frame with screws.
Step 6 Paint the zoo in your desired shade, we used Resene Dusted Blue and gave it two coats.
Step 7 Cut your cotton 5 mm rope into 12 pieces which are 90 cm each in length.
Step 8 Screw in your 24 eyelet hooks into the bottom and top of the box frame. We had a gap of approx 8.5 cm in between each hook.
Step 9 Thread your rope through the eyelet hook at the bottom and tie in knot then pull and thread the rope through the top eyelet and secure with a knot. Repeat for all 24 hooks.
Step 10 Pop in your soft toys and enjoy!
