Green Nursery - Masculine, Modern & Fun
Your little man will love growing up in a room that’s masculine, modern and made for fun.
With two other boys already, Melbourne-based Natalie Sheezel wasn’t 100% sure what she wanted for little Ben’s nursery, but she was adamant about what she didn’t want — a traditional red and blue boy’s room.
Handy, then, that one of her best friends is interior designer Nicole Rosenberg (from littleliberty.com).
When Nicole suggested a mossy green, Natalie was enthusiastic. When Nicole showed her a poster by one of her favourite illustrators, Japan’s Shinzi Katoh, it was a no-brainer.
Nicole created a mood board featuring the objects she wanted to include in the room. Then, briefly swapping her interior design cap for her friend cap, she put those items together as a gift registry, so that Natalie’s other friends could purchase off the list as a present for the arrival of baby Ben.
If only we all had a friend like Nicole!
The key to this look is to mix in natural wood pieces, such as the birch frames around the three Shinzi Katoh posters and the toys, to give a woodland or jungle feel. The handmade pirate and cowboy dolls add a bespoke touch, and some upcycled furniture, a rustic feel.
Many old villas and bungalows have fireplaces in the bedrooms, and we think the way the shelves have been built into that space is inspired.
Green is definitely a popular trend at the moment, but it’s important to get the right green. Think more moss, less lime.
