06/08/2018 -I was particularly keen to try out one of the new style swivel car seats on the market, to see if it would make getting baby in and out of the car that little bit easier. The Mountain Buggy Safe Rotate was my first choice because it looked good, felt really sturdy and met all of my safety requirements. Like most cars these days, ours has an ISOFIX attachment point, which makes installation a breeze and is super safe. The Mountain Buggy Safe Rotate comes with an intuitive ISOFIX system, perfect for ensuring a firm and secure install. The car seat is a bit on the heavy side (which is why it feels so safe and solid) but it locked into place easily and securely without much fuss. A great safety feature is the side impact protection around the head and neck, perfect for supporting a newborn. This is adjustable, as is the harness, providing a consistent level of support, comfort, and safety for all development stages up until four years old. The material used throughout the car seat is a soft, plush quilted grey fabric - perfect for hiding any marks, and an easy match for all car interiors. Not the most important thing, but it definitely helps ;) Now let me share some thoughts on the swivel feature, probably my most favourite feature of any car seat to date! If you haven't tried a car seat that rotates to make getting baby in and out easier, then let's just say it could be a game changer - it was for me. It swivels easily so is really easy to access, meaning baby and I were both happy campers. Not to mention the car seat only has to be installed once and can easily be changed from back-facing to forward-facing at the press of a button. The multi-recline feature is another stand-out feature. I found it really beneficial to be able to recline baby once he had fallen asleep to prevent his head from flopping forward. Mountain Buggy provide a comprehensive instructional video on their website, which has instructions on installation and how to use all of the features. This certainly helped my husband and I avoid the usual arguments around installing new car seats! I also thought that $499 was a pretty good price, considering it goes from newborn up until four years old or 18 kg. I’d definitely recommend this car seat to anyone on the hunt for their first car seat, or even thinking of replacing an old car seat.
