Be inspired by the woman behind White Fox & Co.

Melissa Beadle is the woman behind White Fox & Co. We ask her some questions about her business and the family life juggle.

Tell us a bit about your business:

I purchased White Fox & Co five years ago as a side hustle to fulfil my retail passion. My background is in retail across New Zealand and Australia and I missed working in this sector. Originally it started as a home and decor business – I used to pack orders at night once I had finished my full-time job, and work out of our spare room. Since the arrival of my daughter Sophia in 2018, I found my true passion and White Fox & Co is now a highly successful baby boutique, focusing on newborn through to three years.

What’s your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my daughter Sophia who is two and a half. I’m also inspired by other mums in business from around the world and I‘m passionate about supporting them – 99% of the brands we stock have been established by working mums. I also get so much joy out of being able to source and supply mums with high quality heirloom pieces that can be treasured for years to come. 

How do you find a balance between family life and your business?

This is a hard one for me to juggle. White Fox & Co has grown so much, even just in the last year, sometimes there is no such thing as balance for me. I am the face behind the brand, I pack the orders, purchase the stock, balance the paperwork – it’s all me.  I work full-time in the business three days a week. I have been fortunate enough to recently bring my sister on board, which has helped with the workload. This year for me it’s important to find more balance, focus on my family on the weekends and evenings, and to not feel guilty about doing so.

What’s on the horizon for your business?

I have so many goals for this year – brands I want to bring on board, more baby essentials and baby clothing, especially prem clothing.
