Bunny party: hop hooray, you're two today!
A cute and cuddly bunny party for a little girl who always has a rabbit or two in tow.
When Olive’s second birthday was approaching, her mum, Brooke, didn’t have to think too hard about a suitable party theme. Olive has a favourite toy – ‘Bunny’ – and the pair go everywhere together. A bunny party to celebrate a little girl’s love for her favourite cuddly friend was the perfect plan.
Bunny tales
To Olive’s delight, her special day started with the discovery of some fabulous presents – a very cute Foxrider tricycle and some new bunny friends to tow around. “She was so excited” recalls Brooke. “The gasps of excitement from Olive when she saw everything: her bike, all the bunnies and the party set-up, including the balloon garland, is something I will never forget! Parties bring so much joy and I just loved her honest reactions of pure happiness!”
Brooke clearly has a gift for creative styling and understands the art of making a big impact with minimal fuss. Working within a colour scheme and adding complementary rustic touches helped tie together an unforgettable party backdrop. One of Brooke’s party styling tips is to confine your decorations to one area, as illustrated so well at Olive’s bunny party. The balloon garland especially delivered big on ‘wow’ factor, enhanced by the paper honeycomb balls resting on the floor. The balloons, feather bunting, cake topper, white honeycomb balls and confetti all came from @partiesmadepretty. Bunny plates, ‘hip hip hooray’ bunting and beige honeycomb balls were sourced from @rubirabbitparty.
Another one of Brooke’s styling secrets is personalisation –even if you splurge slightly on one special piece. The gorgeous personalised wooden name plate (from @kasoobi) is a case in point. It was used as the focal point of the party backdrop but will live on as bedroom décor.
Feeding the friends and relations
With a guest list of over 30, Brooke played a wise party-prep game and enlisted the help of local bakers to take care of a lot of the catering. “I wanted to outsource most of the food so that I could decorate the party and then simply sit back and enjoy it once it had begun” explains Brooke.
The simple but stylish menu consisted of gourmet pizza followed by an array of pretty desserts – some catered, some crafted by a resourceful Brooke. “I love personalisation and I love a great sweet treat! I used a unique cake topper to transform a basic sponge cake for the birthday cake. I also gave plain donuts and small cakes a make-over with pretty cupcake toppers.” Brooke sourced the small white heart cake toppers from @cathscottage and she prettied up plain Krispie Creme donuts with sprinkles from @fancysprinkles. Gorgeous personalised bunny cookies – a favourite of Olive’s – came from local Melbourne baker Cookies and Crumbs, and the custom-made printed chocolate bars came from @printandparty.
And if you’re wondering about the beautiful birthday girl’s sweet outfit – the tulle shrug is from Tutu Du Monde, her knit bloomers and boots are from Hubble and Duke, and her cute Viktor and Vogue socks are from Velvet and Honey. Bless her little cotton tail.
