Road tripping with the new MAZDA CX-8 AWD

Former OHbaby! Editor Marianne Falconer takes her family on a roadie in the new Mazda CX-8 and shares their discoveries.
There is something special about going on family road trip, it’s a chance for family bonding and creating great memories. Getting there can be a bit of a challenge but a little bit of forward thinking and a car that has thought of all the much needed family comforts can be a huge help! Our little family took the Mazda CX-8 AWD on our trip to the Chateau and snow recently and all I can say about it is “WIN!” It was such a pleasure to drive and be a passenger in, from the heated seats, to the inbuilt sun shades, this car was built for family road trip success!
Here are some of the top things I loved about the CX-8 and some golden tips for family road trip winning!
FEATURES I LOVED IN THE CX-8:
✔ Reversing camera - gotta keep the babes safe!
✔ Heated seats - after being blasted by the cold outside, the warm up in the car was a sweet reward!
✔ Fuel economy - the diesel tank cost us less than $60 to fill up
✔ Keyless entry - great when you’re holding a sleeping baby and don’t have to fiddle around for the keys in your hand bag
✔ Self opening and closing boot - so handy when you’re hands are full of kids bags and gear, and even the groceries.
✔ The in-built sun shades - so helpful when the sun was glaring in or the kiddo’s were napping in the car too!
TIPS FOR ROAD TRIP SUCCESS:
• Check the map and plan ahead where some good toilet stop off points are.
• Pack some snacks and drink bottles so you can fill their tummies while you’re driving.
• Think of games you can play - eye spy, colouring in or download the Mazda bingo card by clicking on the image below.
