Five things experts want you to know if you’re trying to conceive

We asked the experts at Fertility Associates for their most important tips on maximising your chances of conceiving. For more great advice go to fertilityassociates.co.nz
KEEP THE BOYS COOL
Excess heat through tight underwear or having your laptop on your lap every night may result in excessive testicular warming. In a nutshell, if the testes are too hot, sperm production can drop.
WATCH YOUR WEIGHT
If your weight is too high you are more likely to experience infertility. Overweight women will not ovulate reliably. Overweight men have warmer testes and will often have lower sperm counts.
HAVE REGULAR SEX!
You don't have to have sex every day - every other day is fine during ovulation, when the egg is released. Don't worry - you won't deplete the stocks!
DON'T DELAY!
Fertility Associates' most important tip when trying to conceive is to get started! At age 30, the chance of conceiving naturally is around 20% per month, by age 40 it is 5%, and by 45 it drops to about 1%.
