Six weeks pregnant
YOU
One of the early signs of pregnancy which you may be experiencing this week is extreme tiredness. You may find that by the end of the day you are absolutely exhausted and sometimes just getting through the day can be difficult. Try to rest as much as possible.
You may also be beginning to experience morning sickness. Some women are lucky enough to have little or no morning sickness, others suffer from constant nausea and vomiting.
There are ways to soothe the side effects - we explore them here. If you are finding it difficult to keep down even small amounts of food and fluids, see your GP immediately as you will be at risk of becoming dehydrated. This severe morning sickness is known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum and can sometimes even require hospital treatment.

YOUR BABY
Your baby is continuing to grow and develop rapidly. He or she now measures between 3-6mm in length and weighs around .5 gram.
Although it cannot be heard your baby's heart, no bigger than a mustard seed, is now beating and pumping blood.
This is a busy period of development for your baby: the kidneys and liver are now beginning to develop as are the intestines, the appendix and the respiratory system. Some facial features, such as nostrils and eyes, are becoming a little more distinct. Optical vessels can be seen at each side of the face. Your baby's arms and legs are also beginning to 'sprout'.
The neural tube that connects your baby's spinal cord and brain will also close this week.
