Basic biscuit dough
Basic Biscuit Dough
250g softened butter
1 cup icing sugar
1 cup cornflour
2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 150 degree celcius.
Cream butter and sugar together with a wooden spoon. Combine flour and cornflour and add to butter and sugar mixture. Knead well.
Roll out on a lightly floured board to about 0.5cm thickness. Use cookie cutters, or an upside down glass, to cut the dough into biscuits.
Prick each biscuit once with a fork and bake at 150 degrees celcius for around 30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
To ice, combine 1/2 cup of icing sugar with 1 tbs of water, adding more water if required to get desired consistency. Color using 1 -2 drops of food coloring, and pipe onto biscuits, or spread with a spatula or bread and butter knife.
You can also decorate your biscuits using raisins, chocolate chips or buttons, M & M's, licorice straps....
